On Saturday, August 27, 2011, despite Irene growing in size and bearing down
on the US east coast within hours, there was no stopping for the more than 60
folks who reached the inaugural Maison Chance Charity Outing. Many golfers and
volunteers determined to drive 2-3 hours - from Delaware, New York, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania and Virginia - to take part in an event that is dedicated to
GIVING a CHANCE to someone with less fortune.

Many thanks to our sponsors, volunteers and participants for making this golfevent2011imgp5858
inaugural event a success, under such challenging conditions which made
this event even more special and memorable.

Fund raised: $8,000 for GoVap orphanage & Maison Chance VietNam

Please accept our sincere thanks for volunteering your time and energy.
Your generosity will benefit numerous others in VietNam.
Your support won't be forgotten.

Speaking of support, our good friend John Smallwood from Maison Chance
Australia needs all the support he can get since he currently on a cross country
bicycle ride.

Here is what he has to say:

This year, with the support of Maison Chance Australia, I am attempting a new
venture by cycling solo from west to east across the USA. I am now a retiree
and at the age of 66 I realize that I am extremely fortunate to have my good
health and to be relatively fit but I also recognize that I can neither take this
for granted nor assume my ability to take on such ventures will continue forever.

I also firmly believe that whilst I still have the capacity to make a difference I have
a responsibility to help the less fortunate and disadvantaged. I have therefore
decided to make this journey my last major fund raising effort through cycling
in the hope that you will continue to support my efforts by sponsoring my ride.

The ride will take approximately 9 weeks and will involve me averaging approximately
130 km a day. This is a huge commitment by me and I hope that you will recognize
the effort involved and help me reach my target for this year of $50,000.”

He started his epic journey on August 14th and is planning to arrive
in the DC area by mid October to join other friends of Maison Chance in USA and Canada.John Smallwood - Bicycle Across America

We have set up a special blog for you to follow him and lend your support. Money raised
is also going to Maison Chance USA.

Trung’s Friends Organized a Fundraising Event for Maison Chance in his Honor

Sacramento, December 7 2009 – Dang Thai Trung, the first Secretary of Maison Chance, died in a tragic accident on 22 August 2009. To commemorate the 100 days of his passing, his friends at Sacramento organized a fundraising for the benefit of Maison Chance in his honor. About 200 people came to this friendly event. The commemorative ceremony was very touching and the organizing committee prepared also newsaboutmc-usa-image02a good musical program to enliven the atmosphere.

At this occasion and for the first time since the creation of Maison Chance USA, the six members of the management committee had the opportunity to meet together face to face.
