ORGANIZATION

1. How are beneficiaries selected and are they all residents at Maison Chance?

Maison Chance has two types of beneficiaries: residents and non-residents. Those who live in the shelter because of their social or health conditions are called residents. Those who come to the Take Wing Center either for education, health care, training or work are called non-residents. Maison Chance has a history of accepting only severely disabled persons who have suffered work related injuries and are not covered by any social health program. They do not have any family support or their families can no longer afford to take care. Children accepted at Maison Chance are either orphans, street kids or whose family cannot afford sending them to school. Each case is evaluated individually and based on the candidate’s history and social conditions.

2. Is Maison Chance an international charitable organization recognized by the authorities?

Yes. In each countries where Maison Chance has an association, it has been recognized as non-profit charitable organization by the government of that country.

3. How do the national associations support the operations in Vietnam?

National associations are active partners in the decisions and operations of Maison Chance. They take part in any deliberation and decision on: (1) long-term planning; (2) programs funding, (3) financial commitments, (4) personnel management, (5) review and approval of budget. Volunteers take direct responsibility in a project.

4. Where and who does Maison Chance serve?

Maison Chance operates in Vietnam to provide help to the very poor, underprivileged children and severely disabled. It also supports other charitable organizations having the same missions and those who are lacking the necessary resources. All of our children and disabled people living in the shelter are either orphans, street kids or handicapped without social or family support. All of the children accepted at our primary school come from poor families whose members have never attended college. 95% of our graduates go on to higher education, find work in the community, or work at the Maison Chance workshops where they are paid a salary.

5. Who funds Maison Chance?

Maison Chance has thousands of supporters, mostly international donors, who make building and running our shelter, schools, health clinics and workshops possible. Operating costs are shared among the associations which get donations from private individuals, foundations, and corporations. We also have income from interests and profits from our investment funds, as well as revenues from the sales of our products manufactured at Maison Chance. We raise funds for capital expenditures through fundraising activities and special events. We solicit corporate donors through sponsorship.

DONATIONS

1. How can I make a donation?

There are several ways to make a donation. You can donate online, subscribe to a monthly donation, make a gift in honor of someone, or make a memorial donation. You can also ask your company to make matching gifts and make gifts of stock. Check out our “Make a Donation” page to learn more.

2. Can I make a monthly donation?

Absolutely! Many of our donors prefer to make automatic payments each month. Our secure donation form gives you the option to do this. Even better, the monthly donation can be taken out from your bank account or from your credit card any given date of the month at your choice.

3. What will my donation support?

Your contribution will help Maison Chance support existing operations at the three centers in Ho Chi Minh City (Shelter, Take Wing Center, Village Chance) and the Socila Center in Dak Nong. It also contributes to establish additional shelters, health clinics, schools, and vocational training schools in other poor villages in the countryside. We are committed through our Charter to always dedicate at least 90% of the contributions to our programs and less than 10% to administration. The details of our allocations of funds are published in the annual financial statements.

4. Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes, depending on the tax law in each country, donations may be deductible.
Examples: In the US, Maison Chance USA is a 501(c) (3) incorporated in the State of California. All gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. In Canada, Maison Chance Canada is a Registered Charity Organization and all donations are tax deductible.

VOLUNTEERING

1. What does a volunteer do at Maison Chance?

Except of salary workers in Vietnam, all the others are volunteers. We always need volunteers to run events on local levels, assist in the Shop, to join the various working committees and to devote time and experience to help run the Maison Chance programs in Vietnam.

2. What volunteer opportunities are available?

Both, volunteering opportunities in the community where you live and in Vietnam, are available. For more information check here.
